Werewere-kokako fungi 3D Thread Sculpture #7.

This piece is my sculptural embroidery version of the Entoloma hochstetteri, often found in broadleaf forests throughout New Zealand.  This beautifully coloured fungi also appears on New Zealand's $50.00 note, and is the only fungi to appear on a banknote in the world.

Each mushroom is carefully pinned to perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved specimen.
