NZ Under the Sea 3d thread sculpture.

I am captivated by species under the sea. New Zealand is home to approximately 1400 species of fish, 1000 types of seaweeds, 1500 species of sponges, and 3600 species of mollusc, not to mention hundreds of jellyfish, anemones and corals.  Many of the species here are only found in New Zealand, making them incredibly special and unique.

This artwork features (from top left):

Epiactis thompsonii sea anemone, jania sphaeroramosa (pink seaweed). nudibranch egg sac formation, ophiopsammus maculatus (brittlestar).

Carefully pinned onto perspex rods, and encased in a clear acrylic box like preserved museum specimens.
