This piece is my sculpted thread version of the intricate lush growth patterns of bark found deep in New Zealand's broadleaf forests. Featuring tiny species of Mycena subviscosa fungi, and many species of various mosses and lichens.
Every fungi I create is meticulously studied and copied from a real specimen, that has been photographed by myself from locations all over New Zealand.
Each mushroom is carefully pinned to locally sourced pine wood, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved specimen.
