These pieces are my sculptural embroidery versions of the cabbage tree bark, the harlequin ladybird, and the Entoloma hochstetteri (werewere kokako fungi). I adore trekking through New Zealand's national parks and remote native forests. I'm attracted to the many textured patterns of bark. The incredible texture of the cabbage tree bark was inspired for this piece, and I love the bark's peeling layers and colours.
Carefully pinned onto perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved museum specimen.
