The Kina (evechinus chloroticus) is a sea urchin and is endemic to New Zealand. Traditionally eaten as a favoured food choice of the Maori, they are considered a delicacy in today's society. I love the shell's varied green shades, shapes and sizes and the incredible patterns. In this artwork features the intricate patterns of the limpet shell, and common brown seaweed of the upper North Island.
