The Australian swamp harrier, also known as Kahu, is frequently seen soaring above the tree lines, farmlands and swamplands of New Zealand. On my lifestyle block I have these beautiful hawks always on the hunt for small birds. eggs, mice, and squashed possums or hedgehogs on the side of the road. With a 1 metre wing span, these birds a truely beautiful to see gliding in the sky.
This sculpture is made up of hundreds of tiny stitches, made by hand with a mixture of many different types of stitch-work, and finished by hand embroidery.
It is framed in a white box frame, mounted onto foam board, and uses high grade glass that offers ultimate clarity with reduced reflection and has 99% UV protection from the sun.
Measurements: 34cm width x 53cm height x 4.5cm depth.
