Egg Ribbon Nudibranch 3D Thread Sculpture.

The Poor Knights Islands near New Zealand are home to many incredible species, such as molluscs, where I found great inspiration for this sculpture.  This piece is of a sea lemon egg sac or egg ribbon, made up of thousands of tiny eggs.  Based on the species Fiona Pinnata, a pelagic nudibranch in which its eggs are laid in amazing wavy, delicate floral formations.  Each egg mass laid, contains around 35,000 eggs!
