Giant Kawakawa Leaf 3D Thread Sculpture #3.

The Kawakawa tree (Piper excelsum) is commonly found throughout New Zealand and is well known to the Maori for its long history of medicinal use. The heart shaped leaves are boiled in a pot to create a herbal tonic.  The embroidery shows the common holes left by the cheeky nocturnal caterpillar that feasts on it at night.
