This piece is my sculpted thread version of some of the strange fungi found throughout New Zealand's forests. These sculptures are all based on Stinkhorns, a smelly fungus, phallic-like, starfish, or basket shaped. They each let out an odour which attracts flies to help polinate their spores from a slime each fungus secretes.

Every fungi I create is meticulously studied and copied from a real specimen, that has been photographed by myself from locations all over New Zealand.
Each mushroom is carefully pinned to white perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved specimen.
