This piece is my sculpted thread version of the Coprinus - or commonly known as the Ink cap mushroom, found all over New Zealand, particularly in mulch gardens early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. This artwork features various species of Coprinus comatus (shaggy inkcap), Coprinus Lagopus (hare's foot) in different stages of maturity.
Every sculpture I create is meticulously copied from a real specimen, that has been photographed by myself from many locations all over New Zealand.
Each mushroom is carefully pinned to perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved specimen.
