Wai-o-tapu thermal wonderland in Rotorua was my great source of inspiration for this sculpture. With vents and pools reaching temperatures over 100degrees, the thermal area is alive with bubbling hot mud, geysers, silica and orange coloured steam pools. Layers of colloidal sulphur and ferrous salts form an incredible lime/white/green colouration at the Bridal Veil Falls. The wide range of colours are due to minerals absorbed by the water from the rocks at very high temperatures.
