This piece was inspired by a hike through the vast forests of the Waitakere ranges. This area is often damp throughout the year, and filled with all types of ferns, fungi, orchids, native trees and lichens. Viewed through a magnifying glass, this organic structure was made based upon these beautiful lichens (black sheet lichen) (parmotrema reticulatum) with their multiple growths, holes and darker species of lichens and moss that grow harmoniously together.
Professionally framed using a white boxed frame and museum grade glass. This offers ultimate clarity, with reduced reflection, and has 99% UV protection from the sun.
