I was inspired by the stunning yellow bell like flowers of the native Kowhai tree of New Zealand for this creation.
Native birds such as the Tui, Bellbird, Kākā and Wood pigeon all benefit from kōwhai trees, as well as the flowers being a great source of nectar for bees, butterflies and moths.
This sculpture is made up of hundreds of tiny stitches, made on a sewing machine, and finished by hand embroidery.
It is framed using a natural oak box frame, using high grade glass that offers ultimate clarity, with reduced reflection and has 99% UV protection from the sun to help protect your embroidery.
