Huia 3D 3D Thread Sculpture.

These pieces are my sculptural embroidery versions of the majestic Huia of New Zealand.  The stunning Huia is a New Zealand icon, a very special bird species that became extinct in the 20th century.  Their feathers were a prized possession, particularly the tail feathers.  The Maori symbolised them with leadership and mana. A truely phenomenal bird, with an equally lovely song.

Carefully pinned onto perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved museum specimens.
