The stunning Gannet feather is a New Zealand icon of the sea, and birds can be viewed at nesting colonies around the North Island and top of the South Island. I love the colony out at Cape Kidnappers near Napier, where I first fell in love with these birds when I was only 9 years old. This sculpture was inspired by a feather collected from one of the colonies.
