This beautiful endemic butterfly named the black Mountain Ringlet (Percnodaimon merula) or known by its Maori name - pepe pouri - which means "dark moth."  Often found in alpine regions of New Zealand, these incredible butterflies are able to survive the harshest of environments!  

Carefully pinned onto perspex, and encased in a clear acrylic box like a preserved museum specimen.
